'Prishtina, 19 October 2010 – The Minister of Energy and Mining (MEM) of the Republic of Kosovo signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the British Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, aimed at obtaining support for developing mining resources of Kosovo, and assets of Trepca, and in attracting investors to this sector.

The Minister of Energy and Mining, Justina Shiroka Pula and the CEO of the British Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Ray Power, thereby agreeing that both institutions shall commit to the implementation of this memorandum, signed the Memorandum of Understanding.

By this agreement, MEM commits to full cooperation with the BCCK – in implementing objectives, and shall ensure necessary access to all information and materials to achieve common goals set by this agreement.

On the other hand, the British Chamber of Commerce commits to provide technical and financial assistance to improve MEM capacities in development of the mining sector focussing on the investor, leaving control on mining resources of Trepca clearly under the MEM control.

According to the plan, the Memorandum of Understanding shall begin implementation from the entry into force of this document by MEM and BCCK until 17 February 2012, a date selected symbolically to mark its finalization.
