Prishtina, 18.03.2011 – Mr. Besim Beqaj, Minister of Economic Development, received the reconfirmation of Austrian and Turkish diplomats in Kosovo on the continuing and furthering of politic and economic development, with special emphasis on the fields covered by MED.

Minister Beqaj received these promises in the separate meetings he held today with the Austrian Ambassador, Mr. Johann Brieger, and Turkish Ambassador, Ms. Songul Ozan, whom expressed the readiness of their respective countries to continue their cooperation with Kosovo.

After the meeting with the Austrian Ambassador Brieger, Minister Beqaj stated that Kosovo’s partnership with Austria is a partnership of all forms of economic, scientific and politic cooperation.

“Austria was and remains very active in economy. I think that with the recent amendments made to the legislation, more opportunities are being opened for further engagement of Austrian economy in Kosovo”, said Beqaj.

On the other hand, Ambassador Brieger underlined that Austria is active in many fields, not only limited to economy but also education and other spheres, adding that economy and youth represent key factors for a country’s development.
 
“Austria is present with a number of investments, however, we are naturally interested to be even more present in Kosovo. Today, we had the opportunity to initiate a number of ideas and I am very interested to advance on those ideas and continue to have concrete proposals in the future as well”, said Austrian diplomat Brieger.

Similarly, Turkish Ambassador in Prishtina, Ms. Songul Ozan, stated that Ankara is interested in continuing its cooperation with the Republic of Kosovo, highly evaluating the current cooperation between the two countries in all spheres.

The Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Ozan for Turkey’s contribution and readiness to further the cooperation, aimed at further development of the country’s economy.
