Prishtina, 31 March 2011 – Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, underlined the interest of Republic of Kosovo to further expand the inter-state cooperation with Kuwait in implementing common development projects in the sphere of economy, while remaining convinced that this country will soon take the steps necessary to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

Minister Beqaj made these comments during the meeting with a Delegation of the Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by Waleed Al-Tabtabae, Chairman of the Group’s Executive Committee, where they discussed on possibilities for bilateral cooperation.

At this occasion, Minister Beqaj raised the possibility of deploying seasonal workers in engineering and health-care in Kuwait, as an opportunity for decreasing unemployment in Kosovo.

Underlining the possibility of avoiding double taxation and protecting foreign investments in the country, Beqaj said that Kosovo has a solid legislative foundation that encourages and protects direct foreign investments in the country and treats foreign investors equally with local investors.

Minister Beqaj also notified the Kuwaiti delegation on Kosovo’s potential for attracting investments, with special emphasis in energy, transport and telecommunication, stressing that this government mandate places economic reform at the top of its priorities.

On the other hand, the Kuwait delegation informed Minister Beqaj that that country stands ready to provide aid through grants in infrastructure and health.

Also, they expressed their readiness to deepen the cooperation between the two countries, assessing that this visit was conducted for this purpose.
Otherwise, part of the Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group were the Chairman of its Executive Committee, Waleed Al-Tabtabae, vice-chairman of the Executive Committee, Jamaan Al- Herbash and its members Mohammad Al- Mottery, Faisal Al Muslim, Hassan Johar.
