Prishtina, 6 April 2011 – Republic of Kosovo will soon formalize the cooperation with Republic of Croatia in the sphere of economy, said today Besim Beqaj, Minister of Economic Development (MED), during the meeting held with the Croatian Ambassador in Prishtina Zoran Vodopija.

On the other hand, Ambassador Vodopija confirmed the political will of both countries for advancing economic cooperation and underlined the interest of Croatian enterprises for investments in the spheres of infrastructure and fruit import.

Minister Beqaj emphasized that there is good cooperation between Kosovar and Croatian institutions that should be further developed, while assessing that his visit to Croatia, envisaged to occur in May of this year, is expected to yield in the signature of a cooperation agreement between the two countries.

Head of MED said that there is sufficient space for economic cooperation, especially in the fields of energy, infrastructure, fruit cultivation and food processing industry, which would serve to the improvement of the trade balance deficit between Kosovo and Croatia.

Minister Beqaj informed the Croatian diplomat on the privatization projects and invited Croatian investors to become part of the processes, in order for the bilateral cooperation no to be merely limited to trade, but rather oriented in more advanced investment forms.

At the occasion, Minister Beqaj raised the issue of insurances and elimination of double taxation aimed to facilitate economic interaction between the two countries and their citizens.
