Prishtina, 7 April 2011 – The Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, promised the representatives of the PTK Professional Employees Union that he and the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the PTK Privatization will put serious consideration in their requests and that they will strive to protect the rights of PTK employees during the entire privatization process.

Minister Beqaj said in the meeting the PTK unionists, headed by Gazmend Isufi, chair of the Professional Employees Union, that the privatization process will move forward and there will be complete transparency and abidance of legality in the process.

He stated that PTK employees will realize all rights as per the Labor Law and other applicable laws.

Minister Beqaj said that PTK Privatization will also have a positive effect in employment as the funds of this process will be invested in capital projects that will employ a considerable number of people currently unemployed.

On the other hand, PTK unionist asked Minister Beqaj and the PTK Privatization Inter-Ministerial Committee to take into consideration the employees’ requests in the privatization, including: to provide 5 year employment contracts for employees, to maintain the current salary level, allocation of certain shares for employees, to respect the 10 year working experience of the 90s, to allow for voluntary early retirement, and to allow the Professional Employees Union to participate in the PTK Privatization Committee.
