Zagreb/ Prishtina, 14 May 2011 – Kosovo Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, met today with the President of Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipovic, to discuss on the development and further strengthening of state relations by the two countries, with special emphasis on cooperation in the sphere of economy.

President Josipovic used the opportunity to express his determination and that of the institutions of Republic of Croatia to support Kosovo in its journey towards membership and integration in international and Euro-Atlantic institutions.

The Croatian President expressed his readiness to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries, respectively, to establish the necessary prerequisites in order for Kosovar products to be more present in the Croatian market.

After expressing gratitude for the Croatian support to Kosovo, Minister Beqaj informed President Josipovic on the country’s priorities concerning economic development.

Minister Beqaj further asked for facilitation of movement of Kosovo citizens and businesses and the removal of visa requirements for visits to Croatia, the signature of a state agreement to eliminate double taxation and the signature of a state agreement on mutual acknowledgment of vehicle insurance premiums.

During his visit in Croatia, Minister Beqaj also met with the Deputy Prime Minister for Investments, Domagoj Milosevic, and the Minister of Economy, Labor and Intrepreneurship, Duro Popijac, with whom he signed a Memorandum of Understanding on economic cooperation between the two countries.

Also, yesterday Minister Beqaj met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Tonci Bozancic.
