Prishtina, 3 June 2011 – The Government Privatization Committee (GPC) for the Publicly Owned Enterprise Kosovo Post and Telecommunications J.S.C., in accordance with the decisions of the Assembly and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, conducted the prequalification process for the enterprises interested on PTK privatization.


The process was conducted in an open and competitive manner, whereas the following enterprises took part in the prequalification process:
1. Albtelekom Sh.A., Albania
2. Hrvatski Telekom d.d., Croatia, mother company Deutche Telecom, Germany
3. Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E., Egypt
4. SabaFon, Yemen
5. Telekom Austria AG, Austria

After a thorough analysis of applications obtained from the companies taking part in prequalification, GPC is able to inform the public that the following companies are qualified for the purchase of 75% of shares of PTK J.S.C:
Hrvatski Telekom d.d., Croatia, mother company Deutche Telecom, Germany
Telekom Austria AG, Austria.

The application evaluation process w.as conducted by a professional panel comprising representatives of five ministries participating in the GPC.

A number of identical conditions were set for all applicants in regard to the prequalification, and they were all granted entirely equal access to information from the contracting authority.

The Government Privatization Committee finds this phase of PTK share purchase prequalification to have been conducted very successfully.

The prequalified companies and their mother companies have over 170 million clients worldwide, they are present in all parts of the globe, have sufficient capital equity (with annual income in 2009 exceeding 67 billion euro), and will be able to guarantee proper competition in the process.

Entry of such large mobile telephony providers in Kosovo is guarantee for an accelerated development of this market segment and will prove to be a successful example of investment in Kosovo.
