Prishtina, 23 June 2011 – Privatization process of the KEK Distribution and Supply functions is going according to the planned agenda. Pre-qualified companies, Elsewedy, Çalik, Limak and TAIB Bank, were offered access to the “Data Room” where the started downloading information and data from the KEK Distribution and Supply sector.

According to these data, the companies have initiated the required Due Diligence on the KEDS condition. This way, pre-qualified companies can create an essential information basis that would be helpful in the preparation detailed and quality acquisition offers.

In addition, documents presented for reading and review to the Government Group for Energy Projects are going to be added to the Data Room.

This group consists of competent representatives and experts from KEK, KOSTT, Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), Independent Commission on Mines and Minerals (ICMM), Public Private Partnership (PPP) and professional representatives delegated from Ministries that comprise the Government Privatization Committee, formed for the purpose of reviewing key documents of KEDS and TPP Kosova e Re privatization projects.

EPGG was presented with the following documents; Information Memorandum, document on Tariff Methodology, and another document envisaging the Power Supply Agreement between the future private company (KEDS) and the remaining part of KEK (generation and mining).

Comments and remarks of these representatives are taken into consideration and will finally be incorporated in the future documents which are expected to take final form in end June.

According to the planned dynamic, the Government Privatization Committee, through the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) of the KEDS privatization, Independent Advisor Deloitte Consulting LLP and Transaction Advisor IFC (International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group), is preparing the required documentation to publish the call to bid.

After this phase, when pre-qualified companies’ offers are received, a selection of the best and most favorable offer shall be selected.

KEK Distribution and Supply Privatization Process is expected to be concluded by end of this year.
