Vienna 30 June 2011 – Economic Development Minister (MED), Besim Beqaj, said today that Kosovo shall meet its obligations of the Energy Community Treaty.

In the conference “Kosovo Institutions in the Energy Community Day”, organized today in Vienna by MED and the Energy Community Treaty (ECT), Minister Beqaj said that the Republic of Kosovo is maximally committed in adopting the legal framework in full compliance with the EU acquis, which is an essential precondition to realize its obligations deriving from the Treaty.

On this occasion, Minister Beqaj informed the Secretariat on the implementation of the priority projects which are interrelated with the energy sector, with a special emphasis in the fulfillment of objectives in energy efficiency and renewable sources.

Minister Beqaj also said that Kosovo is committed in full integration in the regional energy market, highlighting the need for a dedication of other signatory parties of the Treaty, bringing into perspective Kosovo’s determination to strengthen its cooperation and to exchange experiences with other countries, within the Treaty.

In addition to the MED, representatives of KOSTT, ERO, KEK, MTI, MF, MLSW, and KCA, participated as part of the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, headed by Minister Beqaj.
