Prishtina, 7 July 2011 – The World Bank shall support energy projects in Kosovo. This was said in the meeting of the Minister of Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, and the Executive Director of the World Bank, Konstantin Huber.

Minister Beqaj expressed his appreciation for the support received thus far and informed Director Huber on Energy Projects in Kosovo, with a special emphasis to the “Kosova e Re” Power Plant Project.

The assistance and support of the World Bank (WB) for energy projects, including the “Kosova e Re” Power Plant Project, and guarantees which the WB could provide for this project were also discussed in the meeting.

Another topic of discussion was the drafting of a series of studies on renewable energy in Kosovo, and the possible assistance of WB in such projects.

The World Bank has support the energy sector in Kosovo in the projects including the Master Plan for the Electricity Transmission, Reduction of Technical Losses in Transmission and Distribution, Master Plan for the Distribution of Electricity, Lignite and Mining Development Strategy, District Heating, Natural Gas, and many other projects.
