Prishtinë, 27 October 2011 – The Minister of Economic Development Besim Beqaj, received today a delegation of senior representatives from Malta, headed by Guiseppe Madia, Minister of Health, and informed them on the country’s economic development priorities.

During the meeting, the high delegation from Malta, which included the Minister of Finance Andrea Frattini and Minister of Treasury Gaettano Mario Maza, was informed that the Government of Republic of Kosovo remains committed to a free market economy and the country’s politic, economic and technological integration in Euro-Atlantic structures.

The Government of Kosovo i dedicated to the improvement of competitiveness, strengthening of the private sector, increasing employment possibilities, improvement of Kosovo’s investment image and the establishment of a safe and stable business environment, said Minister Beqaj.

The head of MED informed its guests from Malta that an annual economic growth of 7-8 percent is envisaged in a mid-term period, accompanied by the diminishment of unemployment rates by 8-10 percent from the overall number of unemployed citizens.

The delegation from Malta expressed its strong support to the orientations set for Kosovo’s economic development, emphasizing that economic development should be supported by adequate fiscal policies, especially in the agricultural sector.
