Prishtina, 22.10.2014- Economic Development Minister Fadil Ismajli, met with representatives of the US Embassy in Pristina and USAID, Todd Christiansen and Scott Cameron, who provided information on the launch of a 5 year program of technical assistance for the energy sector in Kosovo.

On this occasion, Minister Ismajli thanked these institutions for their support and assistance in Kosovo, considering that this program is an additional incentive for the development of the energy sector.

Ismajli added that this program is a support for Kosovo in various fields such as the development of clean energy, modernization of the electricity sector, support for the Energy Regulatory Office, as well as support in overcoming barriers in this sector.

It was also noted that this program will help the development of human capacities in Kosovo, which will continue to work in Kosovo in the future.

It was also stated that USAID will continue to support the implementation of a common market between Kosovo and Albania.

Otherwise, USAID has allocated 12 million US dollars for the REpower Kosovo program, which will provide technical assistance to help overcome the obstacles by way of development and implementation of clean energy projects in Kosovo, as well as the creation of an enabling environment that will attract private investments in the energy sector of Kosovo.
