Prishtinë, 14.11.2018 - The Minister of Economic Development, Valdrin Lluka, along with the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Fatmir Matoshi, visited today Gjilan Municipality and met with its Mayor, Lutfi Haziri, to discuss projects to be implemented with this city in the following years.

In the common meeting, Minister Lluka informed the head of Gjilan Municipality that one of the upcoming projects with this city shall be the replacement of old water meters with digital meters, and replacement of asbestos pipelines.

“In Kosovo, 58% of the waters produced are lost due to the age of equipment, erroneous reading and illegal connections. This governance has paid special focus to waters and will combat problems in this sector. In the meeting with Mayor Haziri we spoke on the replacement of old meters with digital meters and on the replacement of asbestos pipes,” said Minister Lluka.

The head of MED also said that the city of Gjilan and the region stands better than the other part of Kosovo regarding water losses, with around 52% of waters lost, however, it continues to have a significantly high level of losses and this will be combatted.

The Mayor of Gjilan thanked ministers Lluka and Matoshi on the visit and welcomed future cooperation in the development of the city and villages of Gjilan.
